Chapter Text

(Y/n)’s day was pretty disappointing, her roommate still had those ‘study lessons’ with her study partner. She could hear the loud banging at the wall and muffled screaming of pleasure from her bedroom.

She was the only one who was doing a part-time job and earning some money while her roommate was busy whoring out, (y/n) thought about her parents but she promised herself to be independent and won’t be needing their money because she knew her father’s burst out and willing to pay her rent. Her roommate on the other hand.

She stared at her roommate’s door.

‘I used to remember how Mother doesn’t like someone being a burden in the family and I’m glad I am not one of them.’ (y/n) thought, she takes a cup from the brown-colored cupboard. It wasn’t like the cupboard she saw in her home where everything is opulent looking and this cupboard she’s looking at right now is more indigent looking. She was elated by the fact Lucy wasn’t part of her family If Lucy was part of her family and Mother heard about her ‘study lessons’. She would’ve been thrown away and watched her rot slowly in her life like how a pig was raised in a slaughterhouse.

Oh, how she hated Lucy being a burden to her. She was thankful that Lucy does not know about her status. (Y/n) glared at the trophy sitting at the top of the cabinet in the living room, all the days in her teenage years. She’s been the perfect goodie girl that everyone in the high school praised. Things didn’t go well for one certain person.

She went to the bathroom having a warm shower that might ease the tension inside her mind, putting on some clothes with the darkened colors. (Y/n) gave herself a last look before taking her bag, she started going to her workplace. She could hear a soft ding of the bell when she entered the diner also a faint song from the jukebox on the other side, there’s least customers yet.

“Goodmorning TK!” She puts her smile looking at the green-dyed hair guy who was surprised by her greeting, he straightened himself and she knows he was jumpy. (Y/n) puts her bag down at the locker that the diner owned for their employees only. She took the new pair of cleaned uniforms and went to the lady’s bathroom to change.

After putting on her uniform, and began brushing her hair. It was one of the diner’s rules to tie their hair into a ponytail, braid, bun, or any type of tied-up hairstyle that could keep the hair out of the way so that it doesn’t contact the food. She brushes it again till she looks more presentable and ties it up, she can’t apply too much makeup she already learned last time when she put it on and she was busy serving some food to the customers, a kid stared at her as if a spider is crawling in her face. She ignored the kid's stare until she saw her reflection, the eyeliner was smudging and she looks like she’s going to melt.

(Y/n) shuts the bathroom door and heads back to the locker and put her clothes near the bag.

“Good morning Pops.” She greeted the old man who genuinely smiled at her, the old man was the owner of the diner. She was lucky enough that he gave her a job, (Y/n) never missed her shift even one of the waitresses got sick. She won’t be complaining to take over the shift. Her boss greets her back with a bow before going back to his office it was small, but a person could still fit in.

(Y/n) headed to the kitchen taking the notepad and a pencil, she was ready to take some orders right away.

“What’s cooking good-looking?” She complimented the green-haired chef who stops what he was doing and just stares at her.

She shot him a playful grin that seems to work before he was bursting out laughing.

“It's still early in the morning and you seemed pretty disappointed already.”

“Yes, I do.”

Hmm, let me guess. It’s your roommate again.” He said putting his finger at his chin, a small gesture that she sees when someone was thinking about something.

“I’m tired of her for not helping me to pay some rent.” She laughed nervously while fiddling the spring of her notepad.

“Do you wanna borrow some—”

“Nope, I got this.”

She smiled bitterly and before turning around to take some orders. She knew TK wanted to help and she always declined it. She was glad he never discusses it further; she knows TK could read her like a book and he stops when he noticed that she’s starting to get uncomfortable.

‘He deserves better.’ She thought, glancing at her co-worker who was in the kitchen. She managed to take some orders to each customer, and it was a pretty normal day at the diner. It’s always the same experience, she hands out some menu then take their orders. (Y/n) delivers the ordered list so that TK could cook them and she’ll be busy once again with the customers while the food was being cooked.

Maybe something could lighten up her mood.

She checked at the clock on the upper side and time have gone so fast. She started mopping the floor humming some songs she heard from the jukebox. She stopped so suddenly, her head scanning at the crowd. Only a few customers left, (Y/n) dismissively looks back. A sudden chill she felt was so distracting and not to mention someone was staring at her, she looks back again.

‘Come on (Y/n) you’re tired, we’ve been through this maybe it’s just a kid staring at our messed-up face again.’ A voice in her head reminded her, she shakes her head and just continue mopping the floor. (Y/n) headed back to wipe the grease off from the pen and the pad, it’s not that she hated it. She also despised the oily feeling whenever someone doesn’t clean it after using it.

“Yuck.” She throws the dirty tissue at the garbage can. She changed her clothes quickly as she can, she knew she was getting tired from the all work experience she had.

Ketchup with you later TK.” She does some finger guns him; it was satisfying to see him rolling his eyes whenever she tries to lighten up the mood, and her horrible puns would ease sometimes the tension by annoying the hell out of him.

“What a day.” She grabbed her bag and walks towards the bus stop. She tried not to look scared and as panicky, she kept looking her back as she felt like being watched by.

“It’s alright.” She said to herself and walk more and just a few steps she’ll be at the bus stop. After all, (Y/n) never could have thought this day would be might her last. She starts going faster this time and the footsteps didn’t stop, she doesn’t wanna die tonight. She could already picture the news the next morning, where her body was brutally murdered and probably her body might be touched by that person.

Raped? She shudders that word and she doesn’t know the attacker could be a big person. It might just pin her down and it will do whatever it wants towards her, her hand clenches. The beating of her heart makes it more thrilling.

She turns around readying herself to punch that person’s face.

'Not this time.’ She thought. The fear disappeared and was replaced by confusion, no one was there anymore.

She swore it was there, well it should be…

She rubbed her eyes, looking to her left and right making sure she hasn’t gone crazy. The honk of the bus made her jump, she quickly went into the vehicle and sat at the back seat. Only a few people were on the bus, and it was a small city after all. (Y/n) takes out her phone and plug in her earphones as the music started to blast out and she was thankful that the music was helping her recover from the frightening incident.

‘Whoever you are, I hope you have a fucking Deathwish.’

She tried not to laugh at her words, a lady shouldn’t curse that’s what her mother said when she was a kid. It’s just an excuse that something or someone seemed after her. Her head turns to the window as (y/n)’s eyes were slowly closing not able to sense someone sitting beside her.
