Work Text:
Teatime With Hana
Miyo happily hummed as she got dressed. Miyo was happy because Hana was coming to the house to have some tea. Miyo hadn't seen Hana since before she got pregnant. Miyo put on a purple kimono with white and silver swirling patterns all over. Miyo's obi was white with purple and silver swirling patterns all over. Miyo styled her hair into an elegant updo with silver butterfly hair pins. To complete the outfit, she put on a simple diamond necklace with a matching pair of simple diamond earrings. Miyo did her makeup perfectly, and she was finally finished. Miyo affectionately rubbed her baby bump. She said, “Good morning, my precious little angel. Mama loves you so much.” Miyo's baby bump had popped out a week ago. Ever since Miyo discovered that she had a baby bump, Kiyoka and Miyo can't stop kissing and rubbing her baby bump. Miyo couldn’t believe that she was four months pregnant. Miyo smiled as she looked at herself in the full-length mirror. Miyo left their bedroom and walked into the sitting room. Kiyoka was reading his newspaper when Miyo walked into the sitting room. Kiyoka put down his newspaper and said, “Good morning, my darling, you look so beautiful, my love.” Miyo blushed and whispered, “Good morning, honey, thank you for the compliment.” Kiyoka got up from the couch and kissed Miyo on her lips. Kiyoka hugged Miyo, and he caressed her cheek. He tenderly rubbed and kissed her baby bump and said, “Good morning, my precious little angel. Papa loves you so much.”
Kiyoka and Miyo sat down on the couch, and Miyo cuddled up next to Kiyoka. Kiyoka ran his fingers through Miyo’s hair and asked, “Darling, are you excited to see Hana?” Miyo excitedly replied, “Yes, I am so excited to see Hana. I haven't seen her since before I got pregnant. I can't wait to tell her that I am pregnant.” Miyo and Kiyoka lovingly cradled her baby bump. Meanwhile, at Hana's house, Hana was getting ready to go to Miyo and Kiyoka’s mansion. She was excited to see Miyo again. Hana hadn't seen Miyo in a couple of months. It was a tradition for Miyo and Hana to have tea together once a month. Once Hana was dressed, she said goodbye to her husband and their four children. Hana got into the car that was hired by Kiyoka, and they drove to Grand Central train station. Once Hana got to the train station, she got on her train. At eleven o'clock, the train started moving out of the station. As Hana looked out of her window, she thought about Miyo. Hana was hired by Sumi to be her baby's nursemaid. Hana liked Sumi because she was kind, thoughtful, humble, compassionate, and strong. Hana remembered the day when Miyo was born. She was in the birthing room with Sumi, three other female servants, and the doctor. Hana held Sumi's hand as she was in labor. Whenever Sumi wanted to give up, Hana encouraged her. Finally, after being in labor for six hours, Sumi gave birth to a baby girl. Hana cleaned up the baby and handed her to Sumi. Sumi wept tears of joy and exhaustion. Sumi decided to name the baby Miyo. Everyone in the Saimori estate celebrated the birth. Hana watched Sumi lovingly dote on Miyo. Sumi played with Miyo and took her on walks. Miyo was her beloved little miss. Hana loved taking care of Miyo. But then everything changed when Sumi died. Hana was heartbroken for Sumi and Miyo. After Sumi's death, Shinichi lost interest in Miyo, and he married Kanako after Sumi had been dead for a month. He left Miyo in Hana's care. Hana lovingly doted on Miyo like she was her daughter. She taught Miyo how to walk, talk, and use the bathroom. Hana took care of Miyo when she was sick. Whenever Miyo’s father and stepmother were cruel to Miyo, she gave Miyo hugs and encouragement. Hana hated the way that Shinichi and Kanako treated Miyo.
But it came to a head when Miyo was ten. Miyo came home from school, and she noticed that her mother's cherry blossom kimono and other heirlooms were missing. Hana tried to stop Miyo from confronting her stepmother, but she was too late. Miyo confronted her stepmother, and Kanako angrily dragged Miyo to the storeroom. Kanako shoved Miyo into the storeroom, and before Kanako closed the door, she stepped on Miyo’s mother's comb, breaking several teeth on the comb. For Hana, it was heartbreaking hearing Miyo cry and plead to be let out. Hana begged Shinichi and Kanako to let Miyo out of the storeroom because Miyo was only a child. Shinichi and Kanako refused, and Kanako fired Hana. After Hana was fired, she went back to her home. Hana hated the fact that she had to leave Miyo with her abusive family. Hana was a lowly servant; there was no way that the authorities would believe her. Ever since Hana was fired, Hana has always thought about Miyo. Hana wanted Miyo to be happy, and she wanted Miyo to smile a genuine smile. Over the years, Hana became a farmer, got married, and became a mother. She wanted to see Miyo again, but she knew that the Saimori family wouldn't allow her to see Miyo.
Until one day, Hana received a letter from Kiyoka Kudo. Hana was shocked that a man of such high status would write to her. Hana read his letter, and her heart broke. Hana wanted to see Miyo again. I quickly wrote back to Lord Kudo, and we made arrangements for me to see Miyo. When I got to Lord Kudo's mansion, I was greeted by Yurie. Yurie led me to Miyo’s room, and as we walked to Miyo's room, Yurie talked about how kind and sweet Miyo was. Hana was glad that Miyo was away from her abusive family. Yurie knocked on Miyo’s door, and she told Miyo that she had a visitor. I said, “The years have flown by, haven't they, Miss Miyo?” Miyo replied, “Hana, it's you.” I opened the door and I bowed to Miyo. I entered Miyo’s bedroom, and Yurie brought two cups of tea into the room. We chatted over tea, and I told Miyo that I was a farmer and that I have a husband and four children. Miyo smiled and said, “I am so happy that you are doing well, Hana. After my stepmother fired you, I was worried about you. I didn't want you to have a hard life.” I gently held Miyo’s hand and said, “Miyo, I want you to have a happy life with a genuine smile on your face. Miss Miyo, are you happy being here?” Miyo started crying and said, “I don't know. How can I be happy when I don't have any supernatural abilities? I don't deserve to be happy or to be by Lord Kudo's side.” I replied, “Miss Miyo, do you know how I found you today?” Miyo shook her head no, and I showed her the letter that Lord Kudo wrote. I asked, “Lord Kudo is a kind man, isn't he, Miss Miyo?” Miyo took the letter and looked at it. She replied, “Hana, Lord Kudo wrote you a letter, but why?” I gently squeezed Miyo’s hands reassuringly. I softly replied, “Lord Kudo wrote me that letter after learning how you were treated by your family. He did this because he wants to help you. Miss Miyo, I will be here for you no matter what happens. I know that you can do it, but do you? Miss Miyo, please have courage, Lord Kudo is waiting for you.” Miyo smiled and tearfully replied, “I will have courage. Thank you so much, Hana.” Miyo and I hugged before she left the room.
Miss Miyo was gone for a little while. When she came back into her bedroom. Miyo was blushing, and she had a big smile on her face. We sat down and we started chatting again. When it was time for me to leave, I thanked Lord Kudo for inviting me to his mansion. Miyo said, “Thank you so much, Hana. If you didn't show up, I would still be locked up in my room feeling bad about myself.” I hugged Miyo again and I said, “I am so happy that you are feeling better, Miss Miyo. Miss Miyo, I hope that you have a happy marriage.” I got into the car, and Godo drove away from the mansion. I smiled as I remembered Miyo’s wedding. She looked so beautiful and regal in her bridal kimono. Hana was happy that Miyo found love. For Hana, seeing Kiyoka loving, caring, and protecting Miyo made her happy. When Hana attended Miyo’s birthday party, she was happy that Miyo was surrounded by family and friends who loved and cared about her. Hana was proud of Miyo because she was becoming a happy, refined lady. Forty-five minutes later, the train arrives at the station. Hana got off the train, and she walked to a car that was waiting for her.
As they drove away from the train station, Hana looked outside the window. It was a cold February day, and it started to snow. Thirty minutes later, the car pulled up to Kiyoka and Miyo’s home. The driver helped Hana get out of the car. Hana thanked the driver, and the driver got into his car and left. Hana walked through the gate and knocked on the door. Yurie answered the door, and she warmly greeted Hana. Yurie guided Hana to the sitting room, where Kiyoka and Miyo were waiting for her. Hana bowed and said, “Hello, my lord and lady.” Kiyoka said hello to Hana, and he asked how she was doing. After Kiyoka and Hana finished their conversation. He heated some more of the coal in the fireplace. Before he left the room, he grabbed his newspaper and kissed Miyo on her forehead. Kiyoka went into his office to give Miyo and Hana some privacy. Miyo excitedly walked over to Hana, and she hugged her. Miyo asked, “Hello, Hana, how have you been doing?” Hana happily replied, “I have been doing well, Miss Miyo. How are you doing today, Miss Miyo?” Miyo smiled and said, “I'm glad that you are doing well, l am so glad to see you Hana. Hana I'm feeling great today.” Miyo and Hana sat down on the couch, and they chatted until Yurie came into the sitting room with a tray of freshly brewed tea and pastries. Yurie placed the tray on the table. Yurie bowed and said, “Here's your tea, my lady. If you need anything, I will be in the kitchen.” Miyo smiled at Yurie and replied, “Thank you so much, Yurie. I appreciate it.” Yurie bowed again, and she left the sitting room and went to the kitchen. Miyo and Hana each took a teacup and a pastry. When they finished drinking their tea and eating their pastries. Miyo proudly showed Hana a painting that she just finished painting. Miyo poured some more tea in her and Hana's teacups.
After Miyo and Hana finished drinking their second and third cup of tea. Miyo smiled and said, “It feels nice to have tea with you Hana. We haven't been able to do this because I have been sick.” Hana squeezed Miyo’s hands and said, “I have been enjoying myself as well.” Miyo replied, “Hana I have to tell you something.” Hana turned around to look at Miyo. Hana said, “What do you have to tell me?” Miyo took a deep breath and said, “Hana I'm pregnant.” Hana squealed in delight and she hugged Miyo. Hana said, “Congratulations Miss Miyo I am so happy for you. How are you feeling?” Miyo smiled while affectionately rubbing her baby bump. She said, “I am doing great today although I still get dizzy and lightheaded but I don't have any morning sickness anymore.” Hana smiled and asked, “How far along are you?” Miyo replied, “I'm four months pregnant and my baby bump popped out a week ago.” Hana asked, “Miss Miyo, can I touch your baby bump?” Miyo shook her head yes and replied, “Sure Hana you can touch my baby bump.” Hana walked over to Miyo and placed her hand on her baby bump. Hana giggled and asked, “Has Lord Kudo started to fuss over you yet?” Miyo giggled and replied, “Yes he is fussing over me. He won't even let me lift a finger.” Hana sipped her tea and replied, “My husband was the same way throughout all of my pregnancies.” Miyo and Hana laughed while drinking their tea. Hana replied, “Miss Miyo, I am so proud of you. In spite of everything that you endured you're still an amazing person. Miss Miyo, you are going to be an amazing mother.” Happy tears welled in Miyo’s eyes. Miyo tearfully replied, “Thank you so much for your kind words Hana.” Yurie came into the sitting room and said, “My lady and Miss Hana lunch is ready please follow me.” Miyo replied, “Thank you Yurie, I am so hungry.” Yurie went to Kiyoka’s office to let him know that lunch was ready. Miyo, Kiyoka, Hana, and Yurie sat down and ate lunch together. After lunch Miyo and Hana went back into the sitting room to talk. Kiyoka went back into his office and Yurie went into the kitchen to wash and dry the dishes. Once Hana and Miyo entered the sitting room they sat down on the couch. Hana squeezed Miyo’s hands reassuringly and asked, “Miss Miyo have you found your happiness yet?” Miyo smiled and said, “Yes Hana I have found my happiness.” Hana hugged Miyo and said, “Miss Miyo I am so happy that you have found your happiness. I know that your mother is so happy and proud of you.” Miyo felt her eyes well up with happy tears as she hugged Hana. Miyo said, “Thank you Hana.”
Miyo and Hana drank their tea and chatted until it was time for Hana to leave. Hana bowed to Kiyoka and said, “Thank you for allowing me to see Lady Miyo. I really appreciate it. Kiyoka smiled and said, “It was no problem Miss Hana.” Hana hugged Miyo and said, “Goodbye Miss Miyo, it was great seeing you again. Congratulations on your pregnancy Miss Miyo.” Miyo smiled and said, “Goodbye Hana I am so happy that we got to spend time together. Kiyoka and I thank you for the well wishes.” Hana gave Miyo one last hug and she got into the car. As the car drove to the Grand Central Station, Hana smiled. She couldn’t believe that her beloved little miss was pregnant. Hana was so happy that Miyo found her happiness. Meanwhile back at Kiyoka’s and Miyo’s home, Kiyoka and Miyo were cuddling on the couch in the sitting room. Miyo was cradling her baby bump when she yawned. Kiyoka ran his fingers through Miyo’s hair and asked, “Are you feeling alright my darling?” Miyo snuggled deeper into Kiyoka’s chest and replied, “I'm okay I'm just feeling lightheaded and tired.” Kiyoka kissed Miyo's lips and asked, “Do you want to take a nap my love?” Miyo yawned again and replied, “I would love to take a nap.” Kiyoka got up from the couch and he gently picked up Miyo and he carried her down the hallway to their bedroom. Kiyoka gently put Miyo down and they both got ready to take a nap. When Kiyoka and Miyo changed into their yukatas they climbed into bed. Kiyoka tenderly kissed Miyo’s baby bump and said, “Rest well my precious little angel. Papa loves you so much.” Miyo tenderly cradled her baby bump and said, “Rest well my sweet little angel. Mama loves you so much.” Kiyoka and Miyo both fell asleep tenderly cradling her baby bump.
