Chapter Text
“Welcome to Season 6 of Love Island: International! I’m your host, Skylar Hoshi, and I can’t wait to introduce you to this season’s hottest new contestants. As per usual, the couple who makes it all the way until the finale gets to make one monumental decision: steal the grand prize of 1 million dollars for themselves or choose whether to split it with their partner. Although, even if the contestants don’t win the prize for themselves, there’s always the possibility of them finding real love here. This season we are coming to you live from the breathtaking Clue Island Resort! The resort has so much to offer such as a gorgeous sparkling pool, a vibrant neon-lit bar, a fully equipped gym, and plenty of other cozy rooms where our islanders can mingle and get to know each other. And of course, we can’t forget the bedrooms where our brand new singles will be staying. Oh! And right on cue... here they come now!”
The sound of heels clacked sharply as a woman with radiant hot pink hair made her way into the villa. Her bright blue eyes widened in awe as she swept her gaze around the villa like a kid entering a candy store for the very first time. The entire place left her breathless— deep down she knew that she stepped in a completely new world.
Here’s our first female contest. Hell... our first ISLANDER!
“State your name, age, occupation, and what you look for in a partner so that the audience can get to know you better,” Skylar prompted.
“Hey guys! My name is Pink. I’m 24 years old, and I’m a celebrity manager!” she responded brightly. “I have worked with all kinds of talented people! Actors, singers, models, you name it! However, I have worked with K-pop idols the most out of everything else. I actually once dreamed about becoming an actor myself, but I didn’t want the press monitoring my life constantly, so I decided to work behind the scenes instead. But being here on a season of Love Island?! This is my decision to step out of my comfort zone and try something completely new for once. And for what I look in a partner? I want someone who doesn’t want to be tied down to one place and just enjoy life as an adventure along with me!”
After finishing her statement, Pink made her way into the main villa. She barely had time to take in this whole situation before another woman entered the room. The woman had striking neon-blue hair and an energy that consumed the air of the entire room.
“OH MY GOD HIIIII” the girl squealed, rushing forward and pulling Pink into a tight hug before Pink could even fully react. “It’s so fantastic meeting you here! I’m so excited to be here on Love Island!”
Pink took a minute to gather herself after being thrown off, then smiled at the woman shortly after. “It’s great to meet you too. Sorry if I seem kind of hesitant to hug you back. This all just feels too unreal for me right now.”
“I totally understand!” the girl replied. “It’s a new environment that takes time to get use to.”
Pink smiled warmly back at her. “My name is Pink, I hope we get along.”
“Oh I already knew we will!” the girl beamed.
Here’s our second female contestant!
The blue-haired girl turned toward the camera with a bright, effortless smile. “Oh? Name, age, occupation, and what I look for in a partner? Well... to start off, my name is Emma and I am 24 years old. I work as a full-time RN or registered nurse back home. I really love helping other people, and like to think that my energy and spirit uplifts others when they need it most. And for what I look for in a partner,” Emma paused thoughtfully. “I guess someone who is a good listener since I’m pretty chatty. Also someone who is patient, kind, thoughtful, can tolerate my energy... and yeah, that’s pretty much it for me!”
Both Pink and Emma were chatting up a storm in the main villa room. Even though they had only just met moments ago, you would think that they had known each other for their whole lives by the way that they talked.
“So spill it,” Emma leaned forward, eyes filled with curiosity. “Why are you here?”
Pink tapped her finger lightly against her colorless lips, pondering the question. While she enjoyed Emma’s company so far, they both were still strangers to each other at the end of the day.
“Well...” she cautiously began, “I guess I’m here because I want to find someone who’s right for me. I mean... I’ve dated in the past before but none of those relationships were anything to really write home about.”
She then took a short pause.
“When I started working as a celebrity manager, I actually swore off dating entirely. Being around celebrities all the time means even the smallest personal relationship can turn into a huge scandal if you’re not careful. I’ve always tried to avoid that kind of attention as it could have gotten me fired.”
A small, self-aware smile tugged on the end of her lips.
“So... that’s kind of why I’m here. To step out of my comfort zone and try something completely new.”
Emma’s eyes widened instantly at her response. “Wait! You’re a celebrity manager?! That’s so cool! Who have you worked for?”
Pink casually responded with “Well... my most famous client would probably have to be Jae from BTX. Honestly, we’re basically best friends.”
“Shut up!” Emma gasped. “And you never caught feelings for him?!”
Pink shook her head and let out a soft laugh. “Nope. We’re more like siblings than anything.”
As the two girls discussed everything under the sun, you know about life and some shit like that, another contestant stepped into the scene.
The gentle, relaxing sea breeze gently blew the contestant’s chestnut brown hair as she stepped off the boat. Her buoyant blue dress flowed elegantly around her, catching the wind just perfectly as the sun set behind her.
Here’s the third female contestant!
“I think most of our lovely viewers already know who you are,” Skylar said with a knowing smile, “But please tell us your name, age, occupation, and what you want in a partner anyways.”
The girl smiled warmly and replied with “My name is Rayna Oshiro, but you can just call me Ray... most people usually do. I am 23 years old and am a songwriter, singer, and storywriter. I have also acted in musicals and movies before, but that was only like two or three times. I focus more on writing and producing music for the public.”
She nervously fiddled with her hands, her tone turning slightly more bashful.
“I’ve actually never been in a romantic relationship before,” she confessed. “I have very personal reasons for this, but I’m all for learning and trying something new. And as for what I want in a partner, it’s pretty basic. I want someone patient, genuinely respectful towards other people, and kind. I can’t stand arrogance or overconfidence... I’ve experienced that WAY too often with people I’ve worked with. I prefer men who are outwardly kind and friendly like me.”
Ray made her way into the villa towards the other girls. Her nerves eased as she was greeted with warm smiles from the other two contestants.
She stepped forward with a smile. “It’s so nice to meet you guys! I’m Ray Oshiro and I’m really excited to learn more about you guys and everyone else here.”
Emma’s jaw dropped almost instantly. “Wait! RAY?! Like the singer and songwriter Ray?! EEEEKKK! Pinch me, I’m dreaming!” she screamed, hugging Ray while jumping up and down.
“Emma,” Pink slightly scolded, as if Emma was another one of her clients. “We don’t want to overwhelm her. She’s probably nervous as is, so please try not to freak her out even more.”
“Easy for you to say,” Emma shot back at Pink playfully. “You work with celebrities for a living. Normal people like me don’t just casually meet them like this. But sorry if my energy overwhelms you Ray.”
Ray quickly gestured her hands back and forth, “No, no, it’s ok really. I just get nervous really easy... even if I have performed on stage multiple times already. Umm... she called you Emma, right?”
“Yep! That’s me!” Emma lit up at the fact that a celebrity knew her name.
Pink, on the other hand, took a more formal approach and extended her hand towards Ray. Ray shook it but then replied with a slight smile, “You don’t have to be so formal with me. On this island, we’re friends not business partners.”
Pink blinked, caught completely off guard once more. “You... know who I am?”
Ray beamed, “Of course I do, Pink. A lot of my fellow co-workers speaks the world of you and searches you out in order to hire you. You’re organized, strong-willed, and not afraid to stand your ground no matter how accomplished the celebrity is. Known for being confident, secure, and efficient... you’re like a celebrity to celebrities.”
Pink flushed, looking away shyly. “I don’t know about all that...”
Onto our fourth female contestant!
Unlike the other three contestants, she didn’t seem particularly thrilled to be there. Her pitch black eyes carried some sort of distance, and she didn’t smile but carried a haughty expression instead.
“So... contestant,” Skylar began, “what’s your name, age, occupation, and what you’re looking for in a partner?”
The contestant sighed. “I guess I can do that... After all, this is international TV so I can’t expect everyone to know who I am. My name is Hakumi. I’m 26 years old, and I’m a Korean actress.”
She then paused briefly, keeping an unchanged neutral expression.
“I usually work in romantic K-dramas, but I wanted to experience something like this without a script. As for what I’m looking for in a partner... I guess just don’t be boring.”
Hakumi made her way to the back, joining the other girls.
“OH MY GOD, HEY!” Emma screamed.
“Umm... hey...” Hakumi responded, slightly bothered.
“You’re a K-drama actress, right? Man... I never thought I would be in room with so many celebrities!” the blue-haired woman exclaimed. “Wait... what if I end up coupling up with someone famous?! That would be insane!”
The K-drama actress was stunned into silence by the sheer energy bouncing off this one woman.
Hakumi then looked both Emma and Pink up and down. “Umm... not to be rude or anything, but... Is that your real hair color?”
Pink narrowed her eyes at the actress. “What do you mean by that?”
“I was just wondering,” Hakumi replied.
“I’ve heard about her before... and now that I’ve met her in person, I already don’t like her,” Pink said to the camera. “I’ve dealt with enough entitled celebrities in my career, so I know one when I see one.”
And for our last two female contestants!
Two women stepped out of their boats. One wore a glossy black dress, her long, curly ash-blonde hair bouncing softly off her shoulders with each step she took. The other had smooth, porcelain-dark skin with straight brown hair hanging down her imposing dark red dress. She held a gentle and soft smile as she stepped off into the villa.
“Ladies: name, age, occupation, and what you look for in a partner?” Skylar asked.
The ash-blonde woman spoke first, “My name is April Kotoha. I’m 25 years old and I work for a big cooperation helping them with finances. I organize the economic details for the company and like to make sure everything is balanced. As for my partner, I just want them to be for me. Someone who is secure and not afraid to stand up for me when it truly matters. I also don’t like men who are overly combative or argumentative.”
Skylar nodded, then turned toward the other girl. “And you?”
“My name is Izzy, and I am an elementary school teacher. I’m 24 years old and my type of person is one that is kind and calming to be around but not boring. I really value kindness, and strive to improve on that everyday of my life. And I hope whoever I meet here is striving for the same thing.”
“That’s really sweet,” Skylar replied to Izzy. “Well then, go make yourselves at home with the rest of the girls.”
The two girls joined the others, which finally finished the introductions for the female contestants.
“About time everyone arrived,” Hakumi remarked.
While everyone was excited beyond belief, Pink and Izzy locked eyes for a moment. The two girls didn’t end off on the best of terms, yet they decided to keep quiet about it for the time being.
A few minutes passed before a sharp DING got all of the girls’ attention.
“OH MY GOD?! IT’S MY PHONE!” Ray exclaimed in shock, her hands somewhat shaking.
“IT’S THE FIRST TEXT OF THE VILLA!” Emma screamed.
Girls, it’s time to head to the firepit! In a few moments, you’ll be meeting six gorgeous new single boys! #ItsShowTime #TimeToBegin #BoysIncoming
The girls immediately rushed towards the firepit after reading the text.
“Welcome officially to Love Island at the Clue Resort!” Skylar announced. “Are you girls excited to be here?”
Their responses varied: some screamed loudly in excitement, while others smiled nervously awaiting to see who they would pair up with.
“Great! Because in just a moment, six boys will come out and you will be coupled up with them!” Skylar continued.
Right on cue, the first boy sauntered into the villa.
He had skin as pale as a vampire from a teen girl TV show, and dressed entirely in black even down to his piercings.
“Yuck. Pass,” Hakumi muttered under her breath.
“My name is Seth Seeley. I’m 26 years old, and I’m a mechanic. I mostly work on motorcycles; however, I also handle cars too. I enjoy what I do, and even like taking rides on my own motorcycle when I have the free time. I even own a mechanic shop called Seeley Mechanics.”
“Welcome to the villa, Seth!” Skylar beamed at the bachelor. “How do you feel about these lovely ladies right in front of you?”
“They look... nice? I guess?” he replied with uncertainty.
“Alright then,” Skylar said, shifting her gaze back toward the ladies. “Please step forward if you’d like to couple up with him.”
With that cue, both Pink and Emma stepped forward at the same time. They then froze, glancing back at each other, in shock before breaking out into giggles. They definitely had more in common than they initially thought.
“So... Pink,” Skylar prompted, “why did you step forward?”
Pink glanced toward Seth then back at Skylar. “He might not be everyone’s type, but I actually like his style. It’s unique and immediately stood out for me.” Seth kept his same neutral expression, not sure what to make of Pink’s comment. “I guess I just want to get to know him more.”
“Interesting,” Skylar commented. “What about you, Emma?”
“He’s cute! And I don’t know... he just feels like my type. I get the sense that he’s a good listener,” Emma said brightly.
Skylar then turned back to Seth. “Now Seth... you can choose to couple up with any one of these lovely ladies, even if they didn’t step up for you.” Seth nodded, showing Skylar that he understood.
“So Seth... who would you like to couple up with?”
Seth fell quiet, contemplating on his decision. He looked between Pink and Emma. Emma seemed WAY too energetic for him personally, and he didn’t want to pick any of the girls who didn’t step up for him. So his choice was...
“Pink,” he said. “I choose Pink.”
Pink blinked in surprise as she walked toward his side. She had not expected to be the first girl in the villa picked. Her eyes flickered between Seth and the other girls, trying to process what just happened.
“We have our first couple!” Skylar cheered. “Pink and Seth!”
All the girls erupted into cheers, even Emma who stepped for him and Hakumi who got off on the wrong foot with Pink, as they looked at them.
However, something about Seth truly sparked interest into Pink, and she couldn’t explain what it was.
“And for our next boy,” Skylar stated, signaling the next boy to come out. “We have Alex!”
A boy looked around the villa ecstatically. “What’s up guys! I’m Alex, and I’m 22!”
“That’s... very young,” April murmured with slight horror. “A little TOO young for me.”
Hakumi, hearing April whisper under her breath, smirked faintly. “Tell me about it...”
“I’ve got tons of hobbies!” Alex went on. “Video games, football, pickleball, comics... and I’m also a HUGE dog person! Like HUGE! I’m actually a Dog Handler. I train dogs, teach them tricks, and even get them into sports. And yeah, that’s about it!”
Pink, now safely coupled up, let out a quiet sigh of relief. Dogs were NOT her thing, she was more of a cat person.
“Ladies, step forward if you’re interested in Alex!” Skylar called.
Izzy stepped forward first, immediately taken by his bright and carefree personality. Ray, after some hints of hesitation, stepped forward too.
“Alright Alex,” Skylar said. “Who catches your eye the most?”
The brown haired male looked between the two girls, seemingly struggling with his decision. Then after some time, it seemed like he finally made his decision.
“I... think I’ll go with Izzy.”
Izzy lit up, immediately hurrying to his side. Some of the girls exchanged surprised looks at one another, but Ray thought nothing of it. She liked the idea of being an ordinary girl again instead of some celebrity big-shot here on the show.
“Well... now that we got two new couples, it’s time to bring out our third male contestant!” Skylar announced.
The third guy had extremely bright, purple hair, which immediately caused Hakumi to lose interest.
But surprisingly, Pink had an even stronger reaction to the contestant.
“RHINO?!” she shouted without thinking.
Skylar blinked in surprise. “Oh? You know him?”
Seth gave a questioning look. “You know who this is?”
“Oh please don’t get the wrong idea,” Pink said quickly, somewhat panicking. “I only had the misfortune of managing him .”
“Manage him?” Seth responded, even more confused than before.
And before he could even ask anything else, he heard a scream.
“Misfortune?!” Rhino shot back at Pink. “Anyone would be HONORED to work for me! Plus, it’s not like it’s a treat seeing you here either.”
Pink rolled her eyes and leaned towards Seth. “I’m a celebrity manager. And THAT over there, is Rhino Ryuudo who was an actor I used to work for. He’s... a lot to say the least.”
Seth just nodded slowly and silently.
“Umm... right,” Skylar said, trying to get back control of the show. “Well, why don’t you tell us about yourself.”
“I’m Rhino Ryuudo. I’m 23 years old, and I’ve been acting for about two years now. My starting role was in The Black Heart Killer. I’m sure you’ve heard of it.”
Ray gave the man a flabbergasted look. “How arrogant,” she whispered under her breath. “Being confident is one thing, but that was something else entirely...”
“So... who would like to step forward for Rhino?” Skylar asked after Rhino’s introduction.
To everyone’s surprise, only one girl did.
“April?” Skylar quipped, even more surprised. “Umm... why did you step forward?”
April met Rhino’s gaze calmly. “While you didn’t make the best first impression, I’m quite curious about you. If you’re as successful as you say, what’s your purpose of being here? You obviously don’t need the 1 million dollars.”
“Interesting reason,” Skylar mumbled. “Well... since no other girl stepped forward, Rhino and April are our third couple!”
There were some uneven claps, and Pink sent a silent prayer to April.
“With that out of the way,” Skylar continued changing the topic, “Let’s bring out our next boy!”
A man with dark blue hair soon stepped out, carrying out an air of confidence as he walked.
He then stopped, and gave an effortless smile towards the girls. “My name is Aoi Tsukino. I’m 25, and I’m excited to get to know you all. I own my own Italian restaurant called Tsukino’s and my favorite dish to cook is Fettuccine.”
A few girls perked up immediately. After all, one way to a girl’s heart is through her stomach.
“I used to bartend too,” he added with a wink. “So I make pretty good drinks. I can actually make you girls some later if you want.”
“Ladies?” Skylar prompted with a smile.
Now knowing the drill extremely well at this point, both Hakumi and Emma stepped forward for him.
“And your choice?” Skylar tilted back at him.
Aoi cleared his throat and did a move that no one expected. “Actually, I’d like to couple up with Pink... if that’s allowed.”
A ripple of silence then followed the villa.
“I mean... yes, it technically is,” Skylar admitted.
Pink hesitated before stepping towards him, and leaving Seth’s side to go be by Aoi’s. She took one final look at Seth’s face only to find it unreadable.
“Well, that was twist!” Skylar finally found her voice again. “Emma, I guess you can go take Pink’s place by Seth.”
As Emma went to Seth, April turned toward her own partner to see him make a face of uncertainty.
“Is there something wrong?” she asked.
To her surprise, he whispered back, “I knew Aoi back in high school. It’s just... I didn’t expect to run into him here. We were... kind of friends?”
April blinked. “You’re kidding.”
“Now ladies,” Skylar continued, “you might think your options are starting to run thin— but trust me, you’re going to love this next one!”
As the next man stepped forward, it was like the stars in the sky followed him.
“Now tell us about yourself,” Skylar prompted to the next male contestant.
“Hi, I’m Tony,” he said with an easy smile, his blue-ish gray hair catching the soft light of the moon. “I’m 26 years old and I’m a model for Ralph Lauren. I’ve worked on campaigns for polo and cologne. I stay active to keep in shape, and look for someone carefree and down for adventure.”
“Ladies?”
But before Ray thought to step up, Hakumi screamed “MINE!” and stepped forward without any hesitation.
Pink learned toward her, whispering as Hakumi walked past. “I thought you said you didn’t like color hair.”
Hakumi shot back at her in a violent whisper, “I don’t like BRIGHT colored hair... there’s a difference.”
Pink just rolled her eyes.
“And finally,” Skylar stated, “our last boy.”
A man with black hair and soulless blue eyes stepped out.
“You’ll be paired up with Ray,” Skylar notified him. “But introduce yourself anyways for the audience.”
“My name is Lucas. I’m 24 years old and work as a data entry clerk for an office.”
Short, sweet, and to the point.
Ray smiled gently as she went to Lucas’s side. Everyone looked around questionably, it seemed odd that the most extraordinary girl got coupled up with the most ordinary man AND BY DEFAULT!
“A man of few words,” Skylar mused. “Well, that’s all the time we have for tonight! Tune in to see what happens next! Will these couples last? How will the pairs feel about each other? Will someone else catch their eye unexpectedly? Will there be tension between Aoi and Seth after that dramatic turn of events? Will we ever know why Aoi decided to choose Pink? Keep watching to find out!”
