India's mother felt like she'd given birth to something completely alien to her, and in turn the child felt like she'd never felt the warmth and comfort of her mothers womb before. So different, mother could sense it, just like a mother animal when she tries to tear apart her newborn because she cannot recognise it as her own, that is what her mother in essence had done to her verbally all her life. It was cruel enough that the world displaced her, but to have a mother that seemed so repulsed with what she herself had nurtured in her own womb..it was the kind of knowledge that annihilates children. That's why India's whole life changed when Charlie appeared, she could smell her own kind in the air, a scent she never knew existed until he came for her. Through knowing him she would understand herself, that was the gift of a soul mate.
