Could you expand on what you mean by permalinks for works? Right now they are in the format archiveofourown.org/works/##### (I've assumed that the integer at the end was the works ID number in the backend databases.) I'm confused as to how the links could get more permanent, especially since you've stripped the language code from them ... are y'all talking about making the links human-readable?
P.S. to the person doing the crossposting, would be nice if the link to the AO3 post for discussion was at the bottom of the entry, as well as the top.
Permalinks! If I save a work to my flash drive as a web page all the links in the saved file turn into local references.
eg: https://ao3-n2.uefi233blog.eu.org/site_map turns into file:///E:/site_map
This means you can't use any of the links in the document to get back to the work on the AO3 - which is not ideal. We'll be adding a small link that tracks back to the AO3 work no matter what.
My apologies too, this post and the wiki link don't describe our particular problem with the AO3 links.
Crossposting link: thank you for mentioning that, we'll add them in future :)
Erm, do you mean making the links absolute instead of relative? Or just giving the documents a base href? (personally, I vote for a base href. If I, as the person saving the document, don't want the links to point to the real site for some reason, it's easier to manipulate the html file if I just have to delete the one tag, instead of searching and replacing all of the links, but that's just me.)
