Summary
Michael Ravitz, a stuntman from Hollywood leaves his rich neighborhood to go to Japan for a vacation. Mahito Maki, who has been down in the dumps, discovers that Studio Ghibli is being bought out by a greedy businessman aiming to get rid of what made Ghibli special with AI. It’s up to them to gather all the Ghibli characters and save the studio.
It’s a story set in the same universe as Who Framed Roger Rabbit, with lots of cameos from popular cartoon characters.

This is a fan-fiction writing project based on the 1993 Ghibli animated TV Movie, Ocean Waves. The idea is to rewrite the story, tweaking story elements, specifically the romance between characters Morisaki and Matsuno, with as few significant changes as possible. I believe it is possible to completely change the romance in this movie while remaining mostly canon-compliant. Most of the dialogue is translated directly from the movie, but written in my style to try and remain consistent style-wise.
The goal is that you can read this story independent of your knowledge of the original movie (because let’s be honest, not many people have seen it). For those who haven’t seen Ocean Waves (1993), please enjoy this as a queer romance drama short story.
