"My dearest, do you have any more queries, or shall we leave you to rest for now?" The softest of the two spoke. Their voice felt almost familiar, as if someone he once knew used to speak in such a tone. He couldn't quite wrap his head around who that someone was, however.
"Let me leave"
The words spilled out of his mouth on demand, the tone sounding harsh and commanding. It took a moment for his brain to catch up to his voice. He just spoke back to the thing that had brought him to this place, and that something was somehow fully invisible.
"What?"
The first voice spat out the question, tinted with anger and frustration.
Grian realised his idiocy far too late.
"You heard me, send me back, wherever that is."

Summary
Twenty years ago, a fire broke out in Garreg Mach, claiming the life of Byleth Eisner. Even with that piece removed from the field, however, the story must be told—and really, nobody told Claude that he was supposed to have help. If war is going to break out, he'll just have to handle it the way he's handled everything in his life: by himself. Or…at least, that's what he'd say.
Unfortunately (fortunately?) for him, Ashe has never been very good at leaving his friends to fend for themselves, and, well…this time around, he wants to be Claude's friend. Maybe together, they can see this through.
A reimagining of Three Houses with a lot less Byleth saving the day and a whole lot more dialogue between Claude and Ashe. Hopefully, Sothis can still give them her blessing, or…something. (Claude's really not the religious sort, but he'll take what he can get.)

This story is a novelization of the events of Fire Emblem: Three Houses, following the Crimson Flower story but using events from the other stories, Cindered Shadows included, to tell the full story of the game. Think of it as "complete" story, not a golden story, and don't come in expecting every character to make it out alive.
There's a heavy emphasis on character-building moments and the slow growth of the Black Eagles and their allies, and I do my best to avoid simple direct portrayals of in-game cutscenes after the first few chapters. The pace is slow but steady, and I keep a strict upload pace of one chapter every other week.
