Summary
When dissecting the human condition in times of great stress, two primal groups form:
Those who love despite their trauma, and those who are defined by it. Perhaps they are the same thing.
Are people cursed into these groups in childhood, or can they be changed by the right person?
Saved by the right person. Or ruined.
Which of the two gets you through a zombie apocalypse?
In a race against time to save his best buddy, Ellis, a young Georgian mechanic, finds himself on a burning rooftop with a coach, a producer, and a gambler. The strangers could not come from more different backgrounds, breeding constant tension amongst them as they are forced to band together for survival on their spontaneous journey to the last city standing: New Orleans.While the mechanic quickly becomes the morale booster of the four, the skeletons in his closet weigh him down and put the team at risk until he finally decides whether to face his traumas head-on... or lose everything to them.
On the other hand, Nick is an opportunistic man, designed to die at the hands of his own regrets, until Ellis tests the inevitability of his fate.

After graduating college, navigating adulthood, and a bad breakup, Adalyn (Addie) Capelli takes a golden opportunity. She finally moves away from her suffocating, fast paced life in New York, to the calming south of Savannah, Georgia.
Not only does she find her fresh start, but she meets someone who turns her life upside down. Visiting the local garage brings her to the kind, chatty, and cute mechanic named Ellis McKinney. Ellis is a happy-go-lucky spirit with a love of life and a heart of gold, who falls hard and fast for her.

“If the laws of nature allowed it,” Ellis started as he jutted his chin towards a poster of Jimmy Gibbs Jr. that haunted the safe house, “I’d bear that man’s children,” he proudly declared, as if it were some sort of honor. To him, maybe it fucking was, especially with the way he was looking at the poster as if it had the ability to listen to him.
Nick never thought he would be around these people long enough to care who was an alpha, beta, or omega, but nature just so happened to be a little busy with a zombie apocalypse to give him what he wanted.

Two months after the first infection of the green flu, survivors Nick and Ellis are the two last party members standing, and for all they know, the last two people wherever they are.
They try to escape, meeting many others and seeing many die on their escapade, both of the men questioning how they maintained their sanities.

He encounters 4 people at The Vannah Hotel. The girl seems ok; she has a head on her shoulders and no ridiculous accent.
The coach, however, is a punk ass.
"Aw heck, the rescue chopper is leavin'."

"No need for cussin'. Or taking the Lord's name in vain."
"Well fuck me then, we're on a fuckin' burning building that I want to get my fucking ass away from. So excuse me if being nice to fucking Jesus is on top of my fucking to do list."

At least Nick thinks so until five seconds later when the kid opens his mouth with "Those're zombies! I knew them books were non-fiction!"
