Beacon has changed. Enya Brightborn arrived as an outsider, rotated through teams, and found a new home with RWBY - only for that home to be baptized in blood. More has happened than Ruby could have ever expected: her family has been thrown into disarray, and old enemies have been revealed as older friends. Throughout the tumultuous second semester, RWBY, JNPR, and Penny have found themselves slowly dragged into the Clan's shadow war.
A shadow war that Adam Taurus has forced into the light.
The White Fang's last-ditch attempt to reclaim Blake saw old alliances rekindled and new ones forged in the fires of battle. With Roman Torchwick's defection, Adam's attack ended only in failure and the Fang's near-annihilation.
But victory came too late to stop Cinder Fall.
Even with her teammates captured and her allies betrayed or defected, Cinder escaped into the shadows with half a Maiden’s power and a successful sabotage mission that bodes ill for all of Remnant.
Nothing has changed. Everything is different. As Vale prepares to host the Vytal Festival, the clouds of war continue to gather on the horizon. The only question remaining: can RWBY see the storm coming?
