She decides, like she did with the Michael Jackson Thriller reenactment from the other night, that this is not the time to ask questions. A laptop sits uncomfortably close to his face, playing the 2005 version of Pride and Prejudice.
He looks up at her, and makes no effort to move. “Hi,” he says instead, “How’re you doing?”
“I’m alright,” she says, “How about you?”
“Me?” He sighs. “Well, uh. I’m doing… bad. Really awful, to be honest.”
