Summary
Emma almost has everything. She's got a wonderful son, a beautiful, tender friend and co-parent, and a family she can count on. It was all she ever dreamed of, once upon a time. At times, she thinks she finally understands what authors mean when they end their story with: they lived happily ever after.
But the feeling always leaves her by the morning. Sometimes she thinks her real happy ending has disappeared somewhere in the past, somewhere in between the curses and forgotten memories. And now it is only a possibility lost to her memories.
If she could go back...

The blade goes deeper when it is someone you love holding the handle. What if Kassandra never struck the killing blow to Thaletas that night on the beach? What if, instead, it was a more familiar face?
The story is canon through the initial finish of Bleeding Hearts and Stolen Money, but the conversation with Kyra afterwards doesn't happen the same way. I have plans for this so we've got to take it a bit off the tracks, but we're going somewhere equally as beautiful.

Emma reaches for Regina’s hand again, but Regina’s moved her ice cream to it instead. “Though, I mean, if I were into women, your mom would definitely be first on my list,” Emma tells Henry.
“I’m flattered,” Regina says dryly.
Her voice sounds a little strained, and Emma tries to lighten the tone. She hadn’t thought Regina would be uncomfortable with the idea of…well, Henry has two mommies, but the Enchanted Forest had seemed a little regressive. “What? Are you saying I’m not on your list?”
“Yes, Emma,” Regina says, and she barks out a choked laugh of her own. “If I were into women, you would definitely be on my list.”

“Hey,” Regina hears from behind her, and when she turns she sees Emma standing there, hands stuffed in her back pockets. “So I guess it’s you and me?” Looking around, she sees that the entire rest of the class has in fact partnered up. Emma doesn’t look very promising, but considering her only other real option is to continue practicing on her own in front of a dozen or so other adults, it seems Emma will have to do.
In which Regina signs up for ballroom dance lessons and Emma turns out to not be the worst possible thing to happen to her. Not that she would ever say such a thing out loud.

Emma Swan is Cora Mills’ favoured candidate to win the Suitor’s heart in season five after “that fiasco with Guinevere Rodrigues”. All Emma wants is her parents’ approval, to prove to the couple who gave her up at birth that she’s worthy of their love and praise.
Or, the one where Emma's not here to make girlfriends, but Regina sort of is.

Summary
Sameen Shaw doesn't just need a job; she needs a purpose. Her BFF, Fusco, is convinced of it, so he asks his pal, John Reese to allow her to interview for job of bodyguard for Samantha "Root" Groves. Only because he's doing Fusco a favor, does John pass Shaw along to Root's overly protective uncle, Harold Finch. He's impressed with Shaw, although he's not quite sure why. He passes her on to his niece to make the final decision. Root's interview consists of tazing, drugging, and kidnapping Shaw to get to her to accept the position of bodyguard. She's never met anyone like Shaw, and Shaw has never met anyone who gets under her skin as badly as Root.
Promise - in spite of its length, it's an easy read.
PS I forgot to mention - I borrowed every Shaw-Root line from the talented writers of POI.Series
