Summary
Balm. That’s what Alola is. A balm. A salve, an ointment, something to soothe. Something to glue all the broken pieces of them back together. Something to heal, something to give and receive.
It's working, too. When they first came to Alola, bodies still tense with the memories of Lysandre and ears still ringing with the sound of sirens and cackling, horrendous laughter and screaming, Ash had not been glued together yet. He kept waking up at night, linen sheets tangled in his legs and limp on the floor, kept flinching at loud noises and freezing up at anyone who looked even vaguely like Lysandre and could never quite seem to look anyone in the eye.

Not because he didn't want to, but simply because he didn't know. What's the next step? Treat this like any other journey, just without the actual journey part. That means sleeping under the stars like old time sakes. What he doesn't know is that's not the norm here.

Summary
Ash is not someone that Brock ever would have associated with the word “clingy.” He was the most independent kid Brock had ever met, besides himself of course. You didn’t raise 10 siblings by relying on other people after all. He’s had to be in the position of main caretaker since a young age, which was part of the reason he liked hanging around Ash so much.
Ash is known for his independence and stubbornness. So when he comes down with an illness during their journey, the last thing Brock is expecting is for the ten year old to cling to him.
Super self-indulgent fic showcasing the brotherly bond and connection between Ash and Brock.
