It had started with the team being up in arms about xenophobic ATCU agents being allowed to roam the base, and a migraine triggered by overusing her powers. Then it escalated into May and Coulson pretending to be her parents in front of Price, and her nearly getting shot.

Summary
Daisy prodded experimentally at the heavy, hollow ache in her chest and squeezed her eyes shut, shoving her shoulder harder against the wooden grain. She felt untethered, lost in some quiet, inarticulate way, but the ground was solid beneath her feet. Nothing in her was screaming to run. Not from this.
“Hey.”
Daisy blinked out of her stupor, twisting around to look over her shoulder. May had come up behind her, still save for the one hand worrying uncharacteristically at the edge of a sleeve. There was something soft about her like this, lacking the hard frame of her jacket and the extra inches from her boots. Daisy was still getting used to it. She was looking wearier than ever, eyes still warm if you knew what to look for; unwary like it was the easiest thing in the world. Something in her expression made Daisy tilt her head in a question -- it looked like she was chewing over something, wrestling with something that didn’t have any harsh edges.
A beat passed. May shifted her weight a little awkwardly and then held out an arm, an invitation. “Come here?”
Daisy blinked again. “May?”
(Or: Daisy and May, and quiet moments of steadiness and safety in the midst of it all.)

“You should take a shower. You’ll feel better after you wash your hair.”
“Um,” Skye says blankly, before she processes that’s actually probably a really good idea. It’s just that it’s weird to hear it from May, in that flat, matter-of-fact delivery. “Yeah, that’s — washing my hair, that’ll be good.”
May narrows her eyes for a split second, then nods and goes back to rooting through whatever she’s got in her duffel. Weapons, probably. Fresh underwear, Skye hopes. She can’t say she ever considered that aspect of the spy-on-the-run lifestyle, back when S.H.I.E.L.D. was just something she blogged about.
