He sat in the middle of the sofa, gently pulled the lap tray from the ottoman, and settled it on his thighs before grabbing the remote and started the last Unsolved Mysteries episode queued on Netflix.
He then proceeded to take a bite of the chicken potpie he'd nuked a few minutes earlier. He felt pathetic but he tried to not wallow in self-pity. He'd been doing way too much of that in the last two weeks for it to be healthy.
He knew he had nothing to reproach himself, but his insecurities got the best of him and he spent far too much time in his head trying to figure out what the hell happened. He sighed and forced himself to eat. He hadn't had much of an appetite recently and he knew he had lost a few pounds, so he ate with little enthusiasm, forcing each bite down.

Summary
Stiles knew going into social distancing that it was going to be one of the hardest things he’d have to do in his life. He was well aware of his own limitations, thank you very much. But knowing something and actually live it are two very distinct things. He’d gone in with somewhat of a plan that included Derek’s participation. What he had not banked on was his mate not being there for most of the days he spent in confinement.
He started by throwing his schedule out the window and just doing whatever he felt like doing. He went to bed late and woke up in early afternoon. He skipped showers, lazed in his pj’s and did not keep a balanced diet. He binge-watched Netflix and tried to have as much sex as possible.
That barely lasted two weeks.
Derek, big hearted as he was, threw a wrench in his well laid plans by volunteering to help at the hospital. Stiles new that it was the logical thing to do, what with the “Weres can’t get diseases” thing his Lycan friends had going on, it made sense that they helped.
He knew it did, but it did not lessen the sting when it left him home alone.

The voices faded as they walked away from the barn, but he could still hear them as they congratulated each other on a job well done, on putting down the last Hale dog, the word dripping with utter disgust. There was scuffling on his left and he opened his eyes at the sound. One of the hunters had stayed behind and was smirking down at him. The man sneered and kicked him a few times, the toe of his boot bruising the muscle of his right thigh. “I hope you rot in hell you dirty mongrel,” he spat as he strode out.
He clenched his teeth, whimpering at the soreness spreading in his leg. His whole body ached, the excruciating pain crashing like waves against his consciousness and he fought the need to vomit. He really did not want to be sick knowing he would have to sit in the mess for god knows how many hours.
