Summary
Sakumo kneels, tanto held steadily in his grip. There's rain on the roof and thunder rumbling across the sky. He raises his sword, ready to thrust it inwards, to end this, when a voice pipes up from behind him.
"Dad? I'm hungry."
It changes everything.

Summary
It starts with an off-hand comment about Naruto. Iruka never expected it to cause his and Kakashi's relationship to collapse but then he does some digging and suddenly he has other problems he needs to fix first. Namely, the one concerning Kakashi and Konoha's resident jinchuuriki.

Summary
After expressing his concerns to Lord Hokage about the education Naruto is receiving, Kakashi is allowed to teach the boy personally when he's not at the ninja academy. What starts off as an earnest effort to teach his old sensei's son turns into Kakashi falling in love with none other than Naruto's other teacher, Iruka Umino, and building a family with him and Naruto entirely by accident.

Summary
Kakashi sighed and came forward, dragging Tenzo into the room with a hold on his arm and kicked the front door shut with a foot. Tenzo barely had time to kick his own sandals off haphazardly in the tiny genkan as he stumbled into Kakashi’s home. Kakashi stopped in the middle of the room, eyes softening as he took in Tenzo’s shy stance.
“Hey,” he began, noticing for the first time in a while how young Tenzo was. The person before him wasn’t just an ANBU, but was a child soldier. Here was someone who had shed blood and sweat for Konoha without asking for anything in return. It wasn’t fair of Konoha to ask a child to bear such a heavy burden.
“I’ll get some clothes ready for you,” he stated, giving Tenzo’s arm a comforting squeeze, a quick reassurance that all was okay. It was something Minato-sensei had done for him after they got back from hard missions like the one he and Tenzo had just been on. He hoped it offered some comfort to Tenzo in the same way Minato-sensei’s squeezes had done so to him.

Summary
“What the fuck.” Usually he would restrain his reaction a bit, but he’s far too preoccupied staring at his dead sensei-turned-father-figure’s orphan son, all of six years old and sitting in the middle of his living room, grinning full at a bunch of stray dogs Kakashi’d semi-adopted.
Naruto looks up at him, apparently finally clueing in to the fact that he is no longer alone in the apartment. For a moment, the grin lingers, and he looks so much like Minato that it hurts. Then, the grin vanishes, and Naruto’s face contorts in shock and terror.
The grin hurt, but this expression feels like a punch directly to Kakashi’s gut, and he resists the urge to keel over at the force of it. Having Minato-sensei’s kid—the kid he would be a brother to were it not for the Kyuubi—look at him like he expects an attack chills Kakashi to the bones.

Six-year-old Naruto has been coming into this one apartment via the doggy door for months. He thinks it's a place specifically for the stray dogs that are always there. Kakashi, the owner of the apartment, thinks otherwise. It's a surprisingly good time.
