“I should ask you the same question!” Dean sputters, and suddenly he’s moving forward, nudging Sam back. He plucks the knife out of Sam’s hand like it’s a s’mores stick and not a deadly weapon. He’s herding Sam, arms out wide, and Sam stumbles away, dazed.
“You shouldn’t be awake yet! What are you doing up this early—don’t look at that!” Dean physically grabs Sam’s head and turns it away from the box of cake mix on the counter. Sam blinks in confusion.

“You…what?” Dean asks, the beer frozen half-way to his mouth.
Sam flushes ice-cold down to his toes, the exact feeling of hearing a gun cock behind you, the exact feeling of catching a glimpse of something dark and large lunging at you head-on.
He stops dead.
“Nothing.” He says, mouth numb, face numb, fingers numb. His own bottle tilts precariously, and Sam jerks, trying to keep it from spilling over his jeans. He lunges to his feet, trying to play it off, but the adrenaline pulsing through his bloodstream makes it impossible.
Or: Sam accidentally confesses his love to Dean after a hard hunt. Dean doesn't reciprocate. Yet.

(from the prompt)Jared (18-21) is a commoner who works hard to support his sickly mother. He doesn't pay too much attention to politics, and is surprised to see the prince's entourage travelling through his village. The prince notices that Jared looks exactly like him, and the prince sneaks off to meet him, telling Jared how fun it would be if they could switch places, just for the day. No one would even notice! When Jared hesitates, the prince also offers Jared a lot of money, to help out Jared's mother.
Jared agrees, but the prince never returns to switch back, and the prince's caretakers just sigh and tell Jared to stop pitching fits when he insists that he's not the prince and he has to go home. It turns out the entourage was escorting the prince to be wed to Jensen, a prince from a neighbouring kingdom, and the prince was willing to do anything to get out of it.Bookmarked by according2thelore

The shock of almost losing each other weighs heavily on Sam and Dean after a very close hunt. Both are badly banged up and Sam knows that if he doesn't let an overprotective Dean take care of him, he will lose it. Once Dean is satisfied that Sam is going to be ok, it's Sam's turn to take care of his stubborn big brother, stitching him up and keeping him close and comforted.
