Summary
While Shane is away at a charity gala, the Pikes babysit an injured Ilya. Of course, Alexei decides this is a perfect time to make a reappearance.
OR
Rozanov tries to steady himself, biting off another foreign curse to pull that hockey-bred steel into his shoulders. Hayden beats him to it.
Just as an angry man bursts through the front door, Hayden shoves himself between Rozanov and the threat. Rozanov makes a sharp sound. Hayden ignores it to square his shoulders, and braces for whatever is about to come.
He isn’t Shane, and Rozanov certainly isn’t Jackie, but the equation is the same as earlier. If he’d expect his friend to stand between Jackie and danger, Hayden’s sure as hell willing to do the same.

Summary
Ilya follows because someone says Shane needs him.
That is all it takes.
By the time Shane realises Ilya is gone, there is a gap in the camera footage, a dark van leaving the loading bay, and a message from Ilya’s phone that does not sound like Ilya at all.
OR
Shane knows Ilya better than anyone. He knows his tells, his temper, his stupid jokes, the exact shape of his fear. None of that lets Shane save him from being abducted. This is not that kind of story. -

For Shane Hollander, adulting had once meant signing contracts, buying and building property, investing in sensible furnishings, and handling the pressure of being in the public eye; then he started building a life with Ilya Rozanov, and the word began to mean something else entirely.

Summary
Shane was fourteen the first time a number felt like safety.
The nutritionist worked out of an office in Kanata, framed certificates, a calm voice, laminated charts with columns. She explained it simply: fuel in, output required, timing of each. She said it was a starting point.
Shane took notes in the margins the way he took notes on everything—completely, past what was required. Yuna had found the nutritionist herself, sat beside him, and took notes too.
Like mother, like son.

Summary
Shane is in the front pew. His face is—Ilya does not have words for what Shane's face is doing. He has seen Shane angry and afraid and exhausted and soft and undone. He has never seen this: living at the very bottom of a person, surfacing only when every single thing above it has given way.
This is what it looks like when Shane has nothing left to manage.
Ilya reaches for him.
His hand passes through air.

Or: Ilya Rozanov turns the same age his mother was when she died. Featuring strange dreams, tarot readings, and a woman with her back to him who keeps appearing where she shouldn’t.
A man who spent twenty years preparing to die, and one husband who refuses to let him.
