Summary
Will shudders, watching Mike’s eyes drop to his mouth. Lingering there.
“This is a bad idea,” he breathes.
“Yeah,” Mike agrees. He moves in, closer, pressing him further into the wall. Will doesn’t stop him. His fingers tighten against the rock behind him, holding on.
“We shouldn’t,” Will warns him.
Mike nods. “I know.”
“We really shouldn’t.”
“Okay,” Mike says, breath hot against Will’s lips. “Then stop me.”
Will hesitates. Part of him knows that they’re going to regret this.
But god, he wants it. More than anything. Just a taste of it. Just to know what he’s missing, before he has to let him go for good.
“Fuck it,” Will breathes, and pulls him in.One last summer at the Wheeler’s lake house was supposed to bring Will the closure he needs before he leaves Hawkins behind for good.
Leaves Mike behind, for good.
Instead, he gets swept up in something neither of them are willing to name — and neither of them are willing to let go of.A/N: still ongoing! updates are slow, but this fic is not abandoned :)

What did he think, really?
What did he hope to find in the arms of a Mike Wheeler who's suddenly comfortable enough to go to gay bars in New York? That he was just going to have sex with his first love, who's gotten even prettier than he was six years ago and realise, oh, actually yeah I'm definitely over you?
Yes. Yes, that was what he'd hoped. That's exactly why he'd taken Mike up on the offer, goddammit.
But he can't face palm hard enough to leave a mark right now, because as he mentioned before, Mike is naked, lying on top of him, gently kissing up and down his neck, still warm and sticky inside him. He can't face palm, because he was wrong, and being wrong has never felt so right.
aka after the best hook up he's ever had, will tries to convince himself that mike is still a jerk. mike proves him wrong with aftercare and a surprising confession

Now, someone walked into the room. A boy, awkwardly standing at the side of his bed, looking over him worriedly. His hair was brown and scruffy, and he had big baby doe eyes and a yellow-and-blue horizontally-striped shirt like a cartoon character. The window was lighting him up like he was important to Mike’s narrative. The curtains are blue, thought Mike, this boy is light. I love metaphors. Maybe he was high on the pain meds. Upon seeing him, Mike felt a great affection, a great peace. Plus, he had long eyelashes. Mike almost giggled to himself. He was definitely a little high.
“Hi.” breathed Mike.
“Hi.” he said, hesitating.
“We’re friends?” Mike asked hopefully.
Or: During the Party's final battle with Vecna, Mike is gravely injured and loses his memories. He wakes up in a hospital only remembering a handful of inconsequential little things, like how much he loves a boy who seems like light.
