Kacchan slides a very familiar letter across the table to him and asks, “What the fuck is this?”
Izuku really feels like he’s about to explode.
Because that letter is possibly the culmination of the biggest feelings he’s ever had: love, and all of it for Kacchan.
Izuku wrote it at thirteen. When he knew that his best friend since diapers would never return the feelings, but Izuku felt like they were so heavy they needed to be shared.
He wrote the letter, poured his aching, crushing tween heart out onto two and a half pages of college ruled notebook paper, and addressed it in his best calligraphy. To: Kacchan. Izuku remembers his thirteen year old self debating before adding on a little explosion sticker.
Now, at seventeen, he’s debating the pros and cons of jumping out of the nearest window.
OR: Izuku writes Katsuki a love letter. 4 years later, Katsuki receives it. Izuku is still very much in love with him, and Katsuki is very much not.

Katsuki’s found out about new limited-edition All Might merch that’s about to be launched and he’s dying to share it with Izuku, to find out his opinion about it, but he’s uncertain whether he should send it to him. Not because Izuku might not like it of course not – it’s All Might merch, after all –, but because that would finally put an end to the months-long awkward radio silence between them, and then Katsuki wouldn’t know what to do with himself afterward.
Alternatively: Izuku's and Katsuki's busy routines make them drift apart from each other, but all it takes for them to get back together once and for all is a villain fight and a trip to the hospital.

Katsuki’s brain was overcome by a whirlpool of feelings, thoughts, and sensorial input. There were people yelling, people shouting, people trying to touch Deku. He shielded the boy’s body with his own out of pure instinct, trying to think, goddamn it, think. He needed to do something.
Deku was dying.
Deku was fucking dying. Because he ate poison that was aimed at Katsuki.Alternatively: Someone tries to poison Katsuki. Izuku ends up eating the food instead.

He’s less and less unprepared for the sound of his door being opened at this hour, the mechanical click from the handle and the heavy, low squeak of the panel shifting slowly ajar. It’s been about a week, now. Even the first time, Katsuki had a hard time feeling the shock he tells himself he maybe should have.
