When a desperate Arthur tells Merlin he’s willing to use magic to save his dying father, Merlin doesn’t hesitate. Unbeknownst to either of them, someone has already taken steps to ensure that Uther dies. When Merlin’s magic fails, any hope of Arthur embracing his gift dies with Uther.
Arthur abandons Merlin despite his pregnancy, and leaves him to rot in one of Camelot’s many towers. But even locked in a cage, Merlin faces constant danger and must find a way to escape his fate.

The fight with Morgana is over and Mordred is dead. Magic has once again been allowed in Camelot.
Morgana is locked in the cells of Camelot waiting so her fate can be decided. Merlin feeling he could have done more convinces Gwen and Arthur to not kill her but instead leave Morgana in his hands to do as he sees fit.
Merlin takes it upon himself to do everything in his power to make Morgana good again (also in hopes to be distracted by the fact that his beloved king is now safe and free to be happily in love with his wife).
Little did Merlin know that during this journey he would be accompanied by his dear friend Gwaine who has suddenly started to flit with him a lot (nahh Merlin is probably just imagining it...).
Can Gwaine make Merlin forget about his king and can Morgana move past the hatred of all these years? -

Gwaine is drunk and oblivious that he's ignoring his friend. And Gaius scolds Merlin without thinking about his tone, without knowing he's making Merlins day a lot harder than it should be.
