Summary
Despite ethical issues around sourcing the data, I am in favor of accepting AI-generated works on AO3 and everywhere else where it can be tagged and traced to its source. While there are issues with AI generators, creating fanworks isn't one of them, so restricting/banning AI-generated fanworks is a multi-part problem of ignorance, gatekeeping, and censorship. On the contrary, AI-generated fanworks may be one of the few options we have to provide transparency and oversight into AI technologies within a systemically flawed capitalist society with untested legal limits on the Fair Use of copyrighted material.

But there’s something wonderful about watching the way Leonie’s suddenly at ease the second they set foot in the forest.
